So technically speaking this is my 3 year old daughters aquarium, but since I set it up and take care of it, I’ll include it here. For this tank I needed it to fit on her bookshelf which was only 12 inches high. I couldn’t find a decent sized aquarium that would fit, so I made my own. I ended up taking a 10 gallon tank apart, cutting the glass to 7.5 inches, and reassembling it back together. It was a fun project, but I wish I had taken pictures of the steps.
Normally I wouldn’t go for multi-colored gravel and butterfly statues, but again since this is technically my daughters aquarium, I had her help pick out the decorations. For the filter, I ended up creating a built in filter out of black corrugated plastic, a pump, and filter media. It seems to do it’s job, and the aquarium seems healthy and stays clean.
